Ever wondered why a simple “hello” triggers a suspicious “wrong number” claim? It’s a classic tactic used to mask unsolicited outreach and sidestep accountability. Callers often exploit the brief exchange to gauge receptiveness before launching a pitch or gathering personal data. If you receive such a call, hang up without providing details, and consider blocking the number. Keep a log of repeat offenders and report persistent patterns to your telecom provider. Stay vigilant about unexpected requests and never share identifying information unless you’ve verified the caller’s legitimacy.
Caller responded with 'sorry wrong number' after I only said 'hello', which felt very suspicious.
