The call claimed to be from immigration's office; the council couldn't verify the caller, but when I heard "international immigration's office" I refused and shouted a profanity, stating I am an Australian citizen and won't tolerate the scam, after which the line was abruptly cut off, likely a spoofed Sydney NSW number.

Opinião de especialista
Scattered reports reveal a pattern of spoofed calls from this Sydney-based number, masquerading as legitimate entities to extract personal details. One instance mimics DHL with a bilingual recorded prompt, while another impersonates an immigration office, switching to Chinese and ending abruptly when challenged—hallmarks of a scam operation. These tactics exploit urgency around deliveries or official matters to trick recipients into engaging. Hang up immediately on unsolicited automated messages; never press buttons or share info. Verify through official channels like DHL's website or government sites instead. Reporting to authorities helps curb such fraud.
