Santander scam call? How to protect yourself! - +44 808 280 0301 (0808 280 0301)

They are pretending to represent Santander.

A caller purporting to be from O2 advised me to update my phone by changing the SIM card, but I became wary due to an error in the texts they sent with one-time codes; legitimate O2 communications are denoted as O2UK, whereas this number displayed 02 UK with a space in between, further heightening my suspicions and leading me to terminate the call.

A call purportedly from Santander's fraud department, addressing me by name, was concerning, but checks revealed no issues with my accounts.

It's clear that this is a scam, as Santander would probally contact you directly if there were any issues, and some of the comments on here seem to be from the scammers themselfs.

The number 08082800301 is not associated with Santander; it’s a scam. Do not follow their instructions and remain cautious.

The number 07380307825, which appears to be associated with Santander, was used to initiate contact, but the response number was flagged as a bank fraud number, raising concerns about the authenticity of the call.

Received texts about Apple Pay transactions on Facebook. The bank’s fraud team confirmed it was a scam. Scammers used my details for transactions. Santander blocked them and issued a new card and Apple Pay details. It’s a scam!

Scam call pretended to be from Santander

I received a suspicious text message allegedly from Santander regarding a card transaction, asking me to respond to another message with a different number, which I believe is not genuine, so beware.

A text was received by my wife, purporting to be from Santander, instructing her to call this number with a specific PIN. She is currently verifying this with Santander directly.

It's suspicious that I received a text at 7pm on a Sunday, a time when banks are closed, and reading through the feedback here raises questions about the legitimacy of some comments, possibly posted by scammers themselves

This is undoubtedly a scam, as the caller pretended to be from Santander, which is clearly not the case.

I recieved a text from a number claiming to be Santander, with a call back number and a request to respond with either Y or N - now that I'm aware of this tactic, I'll be more cautious in the future

The caller claimed to be from the Santander Fraud Office, using the typical tactic of asking me to press a key or call back.
