Calls from this number often start with a tempting offer, like slashing your mobile bill in half, but quickly veer into requests for personal details. Scammers pose as reps from providers such as EE, Giffgaff, or Tesco Mobile, using accents that don't match and pressing for emails or verification info they shouldn't need. Silent voicemails or hang-ups add to the creep factor. Hang up immediately if something feels off—legit companies won't demand sensitive data unsolicited. Block the number, report to your carrier, and enable spam filters on your phone to cut down on these nuisances. Staying vigilant keeps your info safe without missing real deals.

A man with a non-native accent phoned, pretending to represent Tesco Mobile with an offer to halve my bill. I explained I wasn't a Tesco customer, so he inquired about O2 instead; I ended the conversation right there.
