BT upgrade scam – what to watch out for! - +44 191 671 9997 (0191 671 9997)

专家点评
Repeated reports show the 01916 719997 number is repeatedly used for fake BT calls, often pretended upgrades or PPI offers. Callers typically ask for account details, passwords or personal data, then hang up or disappear. Never disclose passwords or personal information to unsolicited callers, even if they mention your name or reference a recent service. If the call is silent or the message vague, let it go to voicemail and verify the request by calling the official BT 0800 number yourself. Use call‑blocking apps, report the number to Action Fraud and consider filing a complaint with your phone provider to curb future scams.

Similar to previous reports, a woman with a Geordie accent offered an upgrade, addressing me by name as a loyal customer. This seems like the same scam I've encountered before with a male caller. I hung up while she was speaking and checked the number via 1471, which matched the earlier call. My suggestion is to disconnect immediately upon recognizing the voice.

Confirmed as a scam after verifying with BT
Some lady with a NE accent rang, saying she's from BT, but I cut her off as she wouldn't stop talking
Although the call was missed, no message was left, but the number had previously offered special BT deals, and when asked for my account summary, the caller seemed unable to provide further information, prompting me to end the call.
