Probably it's a BT retention call, not a random scam. When customers signal they are leaving BT, the company’s retention team often rings the number they have on file to offer a better deal or confirm the switch. The calls usually mention account details and may propose a discount, but they rarely ask for payment information. To stay safe, ask for the caller’s name, department and a reference number, then verify by calling BT’s official 150 number. If you’re not interested, request to be placed on a do‑not‑call list and consider blocking the number. Report persistent nuisance calls to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

The caller inquired about my satisfaction with my broadband service, citing issues with usage in my area, but I'm aware that switching providers won't resolve the issue due to my proximity to the exchange.
BT was the claimed origin of a call checking broadband speed due to increased local usage, though its legitimacy is uncertain.

I believe this is a scam number and have blocked it.
Someone claiming to be from BT contacted me regarding my broadband. I didn’t share any account details but scheduled a fibre optic upgrade. After verifying the number here and with BT, it turned out to be legitimate. BT confirmed it’s their internal number, not listed publicly. A follow-up email with my references, which I hadn’t provided, seemed genuine. Always stay cautious with unsolicited calls, but this appears to be a safe BT number.
This number claimed to be from Virgin Media, stating that our IP address was being used by someone else.
Upon answering, the caller claimed to be from BT, although I informed them it was not a recognised BT number; this is the second such call, from a different number, claiming a request to transfer my phone line, which is clearly a scam, so I advised them to cancel the request immediatly
Claimed to be from BT checking broadband service, mentioned increased usage and contract options like BT Halo. When questioned about contract renewal, incorrect information provided. Sounded uncertain during the call. Likely a scam; advise caution and no information sharing. Best avoided.

I just got a text from this number regarding changes to my account/home number and instructed to expect a call from 01912614096, what’s that about?
Following my decision to leave BT and switch to a different provider, I received a call from 01912614096, supposedly from BT's retention department, offering an attractive deal; however, their failure to send a promised email and BT's lack of knowledge about the call raised suspicions.
I’m confident this was a genuine call from BT. The representative knew my details and discussed my recent package change.
