I believe this is a scam number and have blocked it.
Someone claiming to be from BT contacted me regarding my broadband. I didn’t share any account details but scheduled a fibre optic upgrade. After verifying the number here and with BT, it turned out to be legitimate. BT confirmed it’s their internal number, not listed publicly. A follow-up email with my references, which I hadn’t provided, seemed genuine. Always stay cautious with unsolicited calls, but this appears to be a safe BT number.
This number claimed to be from Virgin Media, stating that our IP address was being used by someone else.
Upon answering, the caller claimed to be from BT, although I informed them it was not a recognised BT number; this is the second such call, from a different number, claiming a request to transfer my phone line, which is clearly a scam, so I advised them to cancel the request immediatly
