Názor experta
Yesterday afternoon, a wave of persistent calls showed up with no voicemail and a vague claim of an unpaid bill. Callers repeatedly reference Direct Energy, yet the alleged debt often doesn’t match any account you hold. This pattern points to a classic debt‑collection scam that banks on annoyance to pressure victims. Let the number go to voicemail, block it on your phone, and verify any claim directly with the company using official contact details. Report the nuisance to your carrier and, if the pressure escalates, file a complaint with the FTC. Staying calm and documenting each call helps protect you from unwanted harassment.
