Initially, scepticism was rampant, however, it's apparent that this is genuinly AT&T, as a call back to them revealed a representaive whos intentions seemed legitamate, no request for credid card info was made.
Spoofed AT&T calls: stop the scam now! - +1 800-947-5096 ((800) 947-5096)

Expert Opinion
Ever wonder why a call that sounds like AT&T shows up on your voicemail? Most of these recordings are spoofed messages trying to get you to pay a bill or hand over account details. Because the number 1‑800‑947‑5096 can be forged, the caller usually has no real link to the carrier. Treat any payment reminder as suspicious, verify with the official AT&T website or app, and never share personal info over the phone. Use your phone’s block feature or an app, report the number to the FTC and your carrier, and keep a log of repeated attempts to help authorities track the phishing pattern. Remember, a legitimate bill notice will always give you a clear way to confirm it without pressure.

There's a link on the ATT Wireless website that lists this number.
I dont know about others, but this number is aparantly for Cingular/AT&T's collections department
Although I don't have wireless service with this company, they've made several calls claiming to be from AT&T, which may be a phishing scam
This call seems suspicious, and I'm concerned that it might be a scam, especially since I don't have a wireless account with ATT or any other provider, and the voice on the call seemed to be the same as the one used by ATT.
This is not a scam; it is actually a legitimate call from ATT, and no information needs to be provided if the cell phone bill has been paid previously
Given my experience with SPRINT for the past three years, it's odd that I've started receiving calls from this number recently, suggesting it's likely a scam, especially since I've never had Cingular.
As the manager of a corporate account that is up to date on payments, it is puzzling to receive calls from this number targeting individuals on the account.
For months, I've been receiving calls from AT&T Wireless regarding an account I don't have, despite my repeated requests to be added to the DNC list, which has been unsuccessful, so I'm considering taking further action.
In reality, the company does provide a courtesy call before disconnecting service, allowing customers to settle their balance and avoid additional fees.
This number is associated with AT&T.
I just finished a conversation with this number regarding my overdue bill, and after explaing that I had already made a payment that morning, they thanked me and ended the call, also asking for the last 4 digits of my social, which seemed legit.
Clearly, this is a deceptive tactic, as evidenced by the message received at my Cell Phone store this morning. Neither my employees nor I have this phone number associated with our accounts, and ATT's systems cannot link it to any of our accounts. While they may not be a scam company, their methods are questionable and likely lucrative.
Thanks for the website, its usefull
I recived a call from this number today, it was definatly Cingular or AT&T, they were remindin me about my online payment, I apreciate that they do this, I've been a customer for a long time.
It appears this number is used by an automated system, likely from ATT/Cingular, to contact customers about overdue payments, though the messages often cut out before they can be fully understood.
Apparently, peoples' suspicious nature is quite high nowadays. This IS NOT a scam, not trying to sell you anything and a legit company (New ATT). I was late with my bill payment and recived a call to remind me. Whats so SCAMMY about that? Come on ppl....complain about something REALL.
A call was recieved on my secondary phone, which raised some red flags since I always pay my bills ahead of time, so it's probably a scammer
I received a suspicious call at 10am, so I immediately looked up the number online. I found this platform and contacted my sister, who is the primary holder of our phone line, and discovered that our payment was indeed late, although it's strange that I received the call and not her.
After calling the number back, I was able to have my number removed from their database with the help of a friendly and sincere representative.
Repeated morning calls were made to our number, prompting a return call, which revealed a request for payment and personal information without disclosing any details about the alleged account or bill; subsequent verification with AT&T confirmed no such communication had been initiated by them.
I also receive calls from them; it's likely the new AT&T
After contacting AT&T using the 800-947-5096 number, I discovered that this number might be related to account management, though my accounts are in good standing. An alternative explanation offered by the AT&T representative was that it could be a sales call attempting to sell a new plan.
Despite my attempts to communicate through an AT&T relay call due to being deaf and unable to speak, I have been trying to address a payment issue, which has been ongoing since December 14, 2007.
Past-due account reminders are the purpose of these calls from Cingular, now known as AT&T.
I missed two calls from this number, what a disapointment, totaly losser
When I listened to the voicemail recording, it was all cut off, it's weird that cingular would call me if my bill is not late and wont be dues for another week, whats going on?
Simply calling them back and informing them to cease contact or face consequnces of being reported to the goverment should be efective
After receiving multiple calls, a complaint was filed with the FCC, as the customer representative was unaware of the reason behind the calls
Repeated calls were received from a company claiming to be New AT&T, despite not having an account with them, and the calls continued even after requesting them to stop, prompting an FCC complaint.
