Skip early‑morning calls that claim your computer is infected. These rings are almost always a scam using a fake Microsoft or Windows support script. Never share personal data, passwords, or grant remote access to anyone who calls unsolicited. Use a call blocker on your landline or smartphone, add the number to your carrier’s Do Not Call list, and report the abuse to the FCC or local consumer protection agency. If the call drops after a brief greeting, let it end—don’t call back. Keep a log of timestamps; repeated patterns help phone companies identify abusive callers.

At 7:10 am EDT, I received a call claiming that my computer had a problem, which not only woke up my entire household but also caused significant distress, particularly considering my wife's poor health. It is crucial to find a way to hold such callers accountable for their actions.
It's unprofessional for callers to not leave messages, and it's a waste of time for both parties.
