Upon declining to provide my address, the caller made threats and then hung up, and when I tried calling back, a message claiming to be from the investigations department instructed me not to leave a message, which is clearly harassment

Názor experta
It turns out these calls are steeped in intimidation, using vague "investigations" language to pressure you into handing over personal info. The pattern of threats—like sending someone to your door or demanding a mother's number—signals a classic harassment scam. Never share addresses or family contacts, and block the number immediately. Report the call to your carrier and local consumer protection agency. If the caller claims to be from an official department, request a callback on a verified line. Keep a log of dates, times, and exact wording to aid any potential investigation.
