A representative from D&G contacted me, requesting address confirmation without disclosing the purpose of the call, leading to a stalemate and the suggestion to communicate via mail instead.

Repeated attempts to contact households suggest a scripted telemarketing operation. Callers repeatedly ask for first‑line address or personal details, often hanging up if the response is not compliant. The pattern of silent calls, abrupt cut‑offs and aggressive sales pitches points to a nuisance strategy rather than genuine customer service. To protect yourself, never disclose personal details unless you have independently verified the caller’s identity. Use your phone’s blocking feature and register the number with the national spam‑list service. Report persistent harassment to your provider and, if you suspect fraud, alert Action Fraud. Regularly review any existing appliance insurance policies to avoid unnecessary renewals.

Apparently, Domestic and General obtians your details when you register your warranty, I used to work in ther complaints department and I can say they are a good insurance company with great like for like replacments and quick engineer times, I would defenitly recomend them for insurance, they are legit

On Monday at 6pm, I chose not to answer. What kind of 0800 number calls at that hour? It seemed suspicious, so I didn’t find out what they wanted, thanks.

Just recieved a call at 6:58pm. Didn't bother answering, especially since it was an 0800 number in the evening. Glad I didn't answer after reading the comments - thanks everyone! Will block now.

I previously worked for this firm, which I thought might be insightful! It’s Domestic and General, covering electrical appliances. They already possess your full name and address, but you need to verify it for data protection. They are legitimate (though terrible to work for!), but I suspect there are often installation fees when replacing appliances that aren't clearly stated in the terms and conditions. Customers had mixed opinions; some praised the coverage, while others struggled to get assistance and disliked hidden fees. You can cancel anytime, so if you decide to go for it, carefully review your terms and conditions when they arrive.
