Repeated calls about PPI claims can feel invasive, especially when the caller hangs up as soon as you answer. Under data‑protection rules you are not obliged to share your name, address or bank details to an unsolicited telemarketer. If the number keeps ringing, add it to your phone’s block list and report the nuisance to the Information Commissioner’s Office. Ask the caller for their company name and a reference number, then verify it independently before taking any action. Use the opt‑out facility where offered, and delete any voice recordings they may have stored. Stay calm, protect your personal data and let the regulator handle persistent offenders.

The PPI team frequently misses calls; upon calling back, a pre-recorded message instructs on how to opt out but requires an email and postcode, potentially leading to the provision of more personal data.

Persistent calls from this number are driving me mad - I won't pick up. Two calls within the same hour. Planning to block them.

After answering the call and remaining silent, the caller hung up; since both my husband's and my mobiles received calls, we've blocked the number to avoid potential scams.
