Picture this: a relentless call each morning claiming your life insurance is about to expire, only to discover it’s a bait‑and‑switch ploy. The hallmark of such harassment is sheer frequency – multiple rings a day, often when you’re at work or sleeping. First, ensure your number is on the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) and double‑check it’s correctly registered. Use your phone’s built‑in call‑blocking feature or a reputable third‑party app to silence the number. Never hand over personal or financial details to an unsolicited caller; ask for a written confirmation and verify the company independently. Finally, report the nuisance to Ofcom or Action Fraud, supplying call logs and any recorded prompts.

Not certain if they can assist you. The lady claimed to be from the Life/Live Review Department. I requested her to repeat that, and she said she didn’t know. When I asked if that was a new department my company had established, she still didn’t know. I inquired how she knew my name, and once again, she had no idea. I asked to speak to her manager, and she didn’t know that either. I even asked if she liked her job, and she didn’t know. I questioned if Mr and Mrs Wall were present; again, she didn’t know. I even asked if there were any walls there, and she didn’t know. I asked how the roof stays on; she didn’t know. I even asked her out, and she still didn’t know. Finally, I asked if this call was about life insurance, and she didn’t know. I asked if I could hang up now, and guess what she said?

Someone was deep breathing for about 20 seconds before hanging up. It was unsettling.
