Expert Opinion
Bottom line: don’t give these callers any personal data. Calls from 844‑442‑6688 are a classic debt‑collection‑style harassment that often uses spoofed IDs and vague legal threats to pressure victims. The script typically claims a payday‑loan or other debt, asks for Social Security numbers, and threatens to involve police or relatives. Block the number on your phone, report it to the FTC and your carrier, and never confirm identity or share info over a unsolicited call. If you suspect a scam, file a complaint with the Consumer Protection Agency and keep records of timestamps and messages.
