Ekspertvurdering
Picture yourself fielding a call from an unfamiliar Quebec number that instantly mentions MyHeritage and a special membership deal. The script sounds polished, but the sudden push for payment and the foreign origin are classic red flags. Hang up before sharing any personal or financial data, and verify the offer by logging into your MyHeritage account directly—not through a link the caller provides. Use your carrier’s block feature or a third‑party call‑filtering app to stop repeat hits. Report the number to the FTC’s DoNotCall registry and, if you suspect identity theft, alert your bank and the genealogical service. Staying skeptical and keeping a paper trail are your best defenses against scam and caller ID spoofing.
