Ever wonder why that unknown number keeps popping up? It’s a classic case of spoofed telemarketing—callers masquerade as local utilities or "energy advisors" to lure you into sharing personal info or paying for bogus services. The best defense is simple: let unknown calls go to voicemail, block repeat offenders, and report persistent numbers to your carrier or the FTC. If a caller claims they can lower your electric bill, do not provide account numbers; instead, verify directly with your utility’s official website or customer service line. Consider using a call‑blocking app and keep your Do‑Not‑Call list updated to reduce future nuisances.
